In probably the biggest new story of the day, Sony has entered into preliminary agreements with Viacom (one of the nations largest television companies) to create an internet based, streaming TV service to work on all of the companies major platforms. Viacom has ownership over major networks like, Nickelodeon, MTV, and Comedy Central. Naturally the use of such service would require a stable high speed internet connection, but it also means that no cable or satellite service would be required. This could cause a major upset with, not only major television providers, but also Microsoft, who has toted it’s TV interface as a major selling point for its next gen console, the Xbox One.
Neither Sony nor Viacom has made any comment on the matter at this time.
So do you guys think this is another big blow to Microsoft in this “console war” or is it no big deal? Leave a comment and let us know.
